Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 Data Recovery Services

The Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 series of hard drives have come to the industry's attention following a recent firmware update released by Seagate. The firmware update patched certain hard disk drives within the 7200.11 desktop hard drive range that had a very specific fault. The firmware update, however, supported only a handful of Seagate produced 7200.11 Barracuda series hard drives.

abc Data Recovery are currently aware of very similar issues to the one that Seagate has patched that can affect other firmware versions within the normally reliable and resilient 7200.11 series - these problems can vary, in the field you may notice one or more of these issues:

The hard disk spins up without any unusual noises, such as a clicking or ticking noise which could indicate a mechanical failure, but is not recognised by the computer, either within the computer BIOS or POST or within the operating system once it has loaded.
The 7200.11 hard disk will be recognised, but the capacity will be incorrectly identified. Sometimes the LBA will show as being 0, this could also be displayed in your computer as 0 MB, suggesting, incorrectly that no data storage area exists - It is possible that you will notice other variances in the capacity of the drive. If this happens it is important to power down the device immediately
There are also issues relating to the SMART on these devices which can manifest itself in many ways. If you have experienced a SMART warning on this generation of drives it is essential that you back up any important data and contact Seagate directly for support and/or RMA.

The problems affect the 500gb, 750gb, 1tb and 1.5tb versions of the hard drive and cannot be recovered using standard tools however abc Data Recovery Ltd are normally able to recover 100% of your lost data. Recovery of this problem will not invalidate your Seagate warranty and following successful recovery your hard drive should be returned via the RMA procedure with your supplier or Seagate themselves.
